Legal Services Pricing

We offer hourly and flat fee payment options, all of which are detailed below. No matter which payment option you end up going with, we’ll be committed to doing great legal work for great value, and offering top notch customer service along the way. Emails answered. Calls returned. Deadlines met.

Don’t believe the hype? Just take a look at our reviews. And if you’re interested in learning more, we recommend booking a free 15 or paid 60 minute consultation with the firm.

Hourly Billing

All legal services provided outside of a flat fee package will be billable at our personnel’s respective hourly rates, which vary based on experience and qualifications.

Flat Fee Packages

We offer various flat fee legal service packages for commonly-requested work. All packages are detailed below.

Package option prices are subject to applicable tax and additional terms.

General

  • This option, which you can book here, allows you to speak to a Green Economy Law lawyer for one (1) hour to obtain legal advice regarding sustainability, psychedelics, or housing-related legal matters falling within our sphere of expertise. It can be conducted by phone, Zoom, or in person.

    Note: We also offer a free 15 minute consultation option with no legal advice for those interested in engaging the firm for legal services. The paid consultation is simply an option for those looking solely for immediate legal advice.

Housing

  • We will provide one (1) month of assistance as-needed to address your housing matter, provided it falls within the jurisdiction of the LTB. This will include:

    • Legal advice

    • Communication with opposing parties

    • Assistance with LTB filings

    • Assistance compiling and submitting evidence

    • Hearing argument and evidence preparation

    We’ll aim to resolve your matter before it gets to the LTB, if possible (and applicable), by demonstrating to the opposing party the case that awaits them, and potentially negotiating a settlement agreement.

    When a subscription month ends, you can request renewal for another month of service either immediately or as-needed. Subscription months are not automatically renewed.

    This option does not include representation by firm personnel at LTB hearings (for that, see below).

  • With this package, we’ll provide all necessary legal services for appealing an LTB decision to Divisional Court for a flat monthly fee of $3,000.00 (plus tax), renewable on an as-needed basis.

    The subscription month does not include hearing representation or filing fees, which must be paid for seperately.

    (Applicants must first make use of the LTB Appeal Review and Advisory Opinion Package, detailed below, before the firm will take on their case. The cost of this package can be applied against the cost of their first subscription month if the firm accepts their case. Respondents in Divisional Court appeals do not need to make use of the LTB Appeal Review and Advisory Opinion Package.)

  • This option covers representation by an experienced Green Economy Law lawyer at your LTB/Divisional Court hearing. It is available on a per-hearing basis. It must be paired with a Subscription Month, which covers all work surrounding and leading up to the hearing.

  • Many landlords and tenants are unhappy with the outcome of their Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) hearing. In such cases, parties can request a review by the LTB itself, and/or they can appeal the decision to the Divisional Court.

    We've found, however, that clients often struggle to understand the basis on which the Divisional Court reviews LTB orders, which can result in considerable wasted time, effort, and money.

    We now offer this flat-fee case review and advisory opinion option, in which we'll review clients' LTB outcomes, and advise them on whether we regard an appeal as worthwhile or not based on our knowledge of the appellate process.

    Note: this option is mandatory for all clients seeking the firm's assistance with filing LTB appeals to the Divisional Court. It is optional for respondents in such cases.

Business

  • The Basic Business Startup package is available to for-profit and non-profit businesses and organizations, and includes:

    • A NUANS name search;

    • Incorporation filing (and initial return filing);

    • Articles of incorporation (including for-profit business B Corp legal element);

    • Operational bylaws;

    • Organizing resolutions;

    • Shareholder/member registry; and

    • Share certificate (for-profits only, since non-profits don’t have shares).

    As part of this package, we’ll work with you to ensure the corporation’s foundational documents match your requirements and priorities, and we’ll explain everything in the process that you might be less than 100% on. When everything is ready and assembled, all of the above will be sent to you in one clean, organized digital minute book file.

  • The Social Enterprise Startup package is available to for-profit businesses looking to position themselves for B Corp certification and non-profits. This pricing package includes:

    This option does not guarantee you will pass B Corp certification (it’s a tough process), but we’ll work with you to incorporate as many social and environmental policies as possible into your bylaws from day one with reference to the actual B Corp impact assessment grading system. This way, we can help set you up for B Corp certification success when you choose to go through that process. You’ll also get one clean, organized minute book file with all of the above, as well as all the legal advice and guidance regarding incorporation that you would with the Basic Startup package.

    When a subscription month ends, you can request renewal for another month of service either immediately or as-needed. Subscription months are not automatically renewed.

    This package does not include assistance with charity registration, litigation, or M&A. These services will be provided at the firm’s hourly rates. Incorporation and minute book creation is available as a separate package (see above).

Psychedelics

  • This package includes a few simple elements to help psychedelic integration coaches operate responsibly while limiting exposure to criminal and civil liability.

    It includes:

    • a one (1) hour legal counsel session covering risk reduction, compliance, and all other law-related questions and concerns;

    • a follow-up best practices document reflecting legal topics discussed in session;

    • a PIC services agreement tailored to the circumstances of one’s practice, with appropriate disclaimers and liability waiver provisions; and

    • website review.

    Additional terms will apply.

B Corp

  • With this option for up-and-running companies, we’ll cover the back-end paperwork for B Corp certification, but you’ll be the one dealing directly with B Lab and completing the online Impact Assessment, thereby lowering your costs.
